Author Bio: Author Cynthia L. Ogorek is an active historian, preservationist, and gardener. She is the former president and founder of the Calumet City Historical Society, and a member of the American Association of State and Local History, South Suburban Heritage Association, Calumet Heritage Partnership, Kankakee Valley Historical Society, and Calumet Ecological Park Association.
