Author Bio: Author Steven Robert Heine grew up in Salem only two miles from the fair. After graduating from Portland State University, he returned to Salem and began publishing poetry books. For four years, he pitched his books on the midway of the Oregon State Fair, and his efforts made him one of the most widely read poets in Oregon. In 1988, he returned as the fair’s poetry director. Now in his 20th year with the fair, he brings to this volume a unique perspective of the Oregon State Fair and the people who have been part of it.
