Ready to plan your next getaway?  Why not cross something off your bucket list?  Here are five absolutely amazing destinations that should be on any traveler’s bucket list.

You do not have to leave the United States to experience incredible sights.  There’s so much to see in Alaska that it’s hard to decide where to start.  Take a cruise to see Glacier Bay, look for bald eagles, and go whale watching.  Land on a glacier in a helicopter or plane.  Take a train or drive to the interior part of Alaska so you can experience Denali National Park.  And don’t forget if you are there during the right season, go salmon fishing!

Machu Picchu, Peru
For the adventurous traveler, Machu Picchu in South America is a must do.  There’s a fair amount of travel involved just to get close to Machu Picchu, and you’ll probably want to spend some time in Cuzco to adjust to the altitude (Cusco is over 11,000 feet above sea level).  But once you arrive in Machu Picchu, you’re in for a treat, hiking around the ancient Inca site and experiencing the breathtaking views atop the Andes.

Havana, Cuba
Now that travel restrictions to Cuba have been lifted, tourists are flocking to the country and crossing it off their bucket lists.  In Havana, you can drink mojitos and smoke cigars while enjoying checking out all the vintage cars, colorful architecture, and exciting food, culture and music.  It is worth noting that there are some fabulous resorts in Cuba!

Seeing the Northern Lights is a common bucket list experience, and Iceland is a popular spot to make this happen.  The great thing about Iceland is that there’s so much more to do other than just viewing the Northern Lights.  You can explore Reykjavik, take a boat ride in glacier lagoon, swim in geothermal pools, and taking in beautiful sights that include geysers, waterfalls, and volcanoes.  Iceland is perfect for everything from a romantic getaway to a family adventure.

French Polynesia - Bora Bora, Tahiti
When you want to truly get away from it all, the ultimate experience is traveling to French Polynesia, made up of 118 islands and atolls in the South Pacific.  You can’t go wrong in gorgeous destinations like Tahiti and Bora Bora.  The ultimate in luxury is staying in an overwater bungalow.  Once you get there, you’ll never want to leave the beautiful waters and beaches of this paradise.

Of course, this list is by no means comprehensive.  There are so many incredible sights and experiences throughout the United States and the entire world.  What’s on your bucket list?
