Susan Hoffer McMillan developed her passion for history in 1994 when she volunteered on an archaeological dig at a former Georgetown County rice plantation. A journalism background combined with her childhood hobby of collecting postcards led to the vivid postcard and pictorial history books for which she is known. McMillan is the author of “Myrtle Beach and Conway in Vintage Postcards” (2001), “Georgetown and the Waccamaw Neck in Vintage Postcards” (2003), “Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand” (2004), and the co-author of “McClellanville and the St. James, Santee Parish” (2006), all published by Arcadia Publishing.

Susan’s new book, “Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand,” was released in October 2007. This book offers a special view of life by placing historical images side by side with contemporary photographs.
