Founded in 1821, LaGrange was originally known as the town of Freedom. The town grew slowly at first, but the good soil, along with many streams, led to successful farms and mills. The town grew slowly at first, but the good soil, along with many streams, led to successful farms and mills.
In a new pictorial history book, local author Lynn Owen uses over 200 vintage photographs to take readers on a nostalgic journey down memory lane.
Owen hopes readers will “be as enthralled in reading the book as I was in compiling it.”
Highlights of LaGrange:
• Features never before seen vintage photographs from both public and private collections
• Covers the town’s history from its first settlers to the present day
• Documents the town’s agricultural past and photographs of many historic structures that are now gone
• Includes images of ancestors of many local residents and the presence of LaGrange’s former Quaker community
A portion of the profits from the sale of the book will go to the LaGrange Historical Society.
