Hampton Roads resident Patrick Evan-Hylton has written "Images of America: Smithfield: Ham Capital of the World" (Arcadia Publishing, $19.99). He signs copies of his book 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Isle of Wight County Museum, 103 Main St., Smithfield. For more information, call 357-7459.

It features more than 200 vintage images chronicling Smithfield's ham industry and includes information on ham preparation, recipes and what makes a ham a Smithfield ham. The author also examines publicity stunts like the World's Oldest Ham and the World's Largest Ham Biscuit.

Evan-Hylton also wrote "Images of America: The Suffolk Peanut Festival." He is an editor for Hampton Roads Magazine.
