Local author Rosemarie Palmer Tucker has written a book about her hometown, Groton, featuring photographs showcasing the residents who have made Groton what it is today. Photos include the hamlets of Groton City, McLean, Peruville and West Groton. The book is accompanied by 15 historic postcards in the "Postcards of America Series."
Tucker said she hopes the book will "reminisce about Groton's days gone by. It will also be beneficial to school children as they study local history."
Tucker has lived in Groton for most of her life and graduated from Groton Central School in 1966. She is the historian for the Town of Groton and was appointed by the Groton Town Board in 2001. She has been a member of the Association of Public Historians of New York State since 2001 and the secretary of the organization since 2006.
A book signing is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Brittany Station, 152 Main St., Groton.
The book is available at local retailers and online bookstores, or at www.arcadiapublishing.com.
