Evansville will be at the center of another book authored by local historian Ruth Ann Montgomery and John Ehle.
This fall, Montgomery had her book “Evansville” published by Arcadia Publishing in its series “Images of America.” Now, she’s teaming up with Ehle for another book in Arcadia’s series call “Then and Now,” featuring current and past photos of houses, businesses and street scenes. Ehle, an Evansville native who’s been doing several veterans projects in town, has taken all of the “now” photos for the book. Montgomery will be scanning in the “then” photos and writing the text for the book.
The book likely will be for sale late summer/early fall next year.
Many of the photos that Ehle did were taken from the same angle as a 1900 publication, “Glimpses of Evansville,” Montgomery said. Other “then” photographs will come from postcards and early photographs.
Evansville will be the first Wisconsin community in the “Then and Now” series, publishers told Montgomery.
