More Info on This Book: German Flatts

German Flatts was established on March 7, 1788, and is comprised of two unique villages. The village of Mohawk was incorporated in 1844, and Ilion soon followed in 1852. With their proximity to the Erie Canal, these villages saw their share of business and industry and flourished as communities.

In over 200 vintage photographs, local authors Susan Perkins and Caryl Hopson German Flatts provide an interesting snapshot of the daily life and important events in German Flatts.

The authors hope the book will “bring back fond memories for people who lived and worked in German Flatts.”

Highlights of German Flatts:
• Features never before seen vintage photographs from both public and private collections
• Showcases popular businesses in the 50s and 60s that no longer exist
• Focuses on many of the people who have helped make the area what it is today
• Includes Images of Main Street in Ilion before Urban Renewal
