Author mines history that's AJ By Kimberly Hosey - 06/24/2006 The Arizona Republic
Arizona author Jane Eppinga will stop by the Superstition Mountain Museum in Apache Junction next Saturday to chat with readers and sign copies of her book Apache Junction and the Superstition Mountains, the latest in her contributions to the acclaimed Images of America book series by Arcadia Publishing.
Images of America books dole out equal parts history and Americana, exploring the developments and characters that shaped American towns.
Eppinga looks back to prehistory, examining the people who inhabited what is now Apache Junction through the ages, and brings the tale to many present-day Apache Junction bigwigs.
Eppinga, a longtime Tucson resident and award-winning writer of Western history and lore, has written titles on Tucson, Nogales and Tombstone for the same series, but this will be her first volume departing from her home base of southern Arizona.
Arizona photographer and Gold Canyon resident Joanne West will also be honored Saturday as photographer of the month. West is renowned for her work in scenic, lightning, star trail, nature and personal photography.
