Book Description:

Barrington, located between Chicago and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, along the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad corridor (now Metra), has enriched area history from the days of the Potawatomi Indians through the railroad age. Later, Barrington became the stage for relaxed country living away from the busy financial and industrial districts of Chicago. Businesses, churches, and architecture are captured in these historical postcard photographs, along with the people who helped the community grow and prosper.

Author Bio: Ken Munson has been a historic preservationist in Barrington, beginning with the Barrington Centennial Committee in 1963. He served as board member and past president of the Barrington Area Historical Society and curator of collections for the Lake County Museum in Wauconda, Illinois. Munson was named the first director of the Henry Ford Estate, located on the campus of the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and taught in the Graduate Historic Preservation Planning Program at Eastern Michigan University. He continues to serve as a consultant to local historical agencies and museums and as a commissioner for the Cultural and Historical Commission in Wyandotte, Michigan.
