Winston-Salem is a contrast between the industrial, business-oriented town of Winston and the religious, historical town of Salem. When the city of Winston-Salem formed in 1913, the combination pooled the strengths of both towns, defining the character of this city.
Author Molly Grogan Rawls is a second-generation native of Winston-Salem and the photo archivist for the Forsyth County Public Library. As the author of two other books, she presents here the growth and change of her hometown.
