Marilyn Morton is the chair of the Independence Ghost Walk, part of the annual Hop & Heritage Festival. Morton also serves on the Independence City Council and volunteers with numerous organizations such as Friends of the Independence Public Library and Independence Downtown Association. John McArdle is the mayor of Independence, Oregon. He was instrumental in reviving the Independence Hop and Heritage Festival, which includes the Ghost Walk.
