A native of Fort Collins, Barbara Fleming has lived there most of her life. She graduated from Colorado State University and worked as a teacher, then as a training coordinator, before retiring. She is the author of several books of local history and writes a weekly column for the Fort Collins Coloradoan. An avid reader, she also enjoys spending time with family and friends, and playing bridge. She has three grown children and two granddaughters and lives with her gray cat, Shadow.
