I bought it for my mother, she grew up near Castor. I enjoyed it. (I read it first!) It's informative and interesting, more so than some other history pictorials I have seen from Arcadia Publishing. But I had to wonder, weren't there any African Americans in Bienville Parish in it's early days? I wasn't raised in the South so didn't realize until I thought about it some more what a parallel world it was for the black and white populations. This book covers the white history of Bienville Parish quite well.
