Most of Arcadia's books dealing with highways and their construction are very good, but this isn't one of them. The book is poorly structured chronologically. It has too many pictures of politicians cutting ribbons and glamorous rest stops rather than focusing on the building of the highway. Captions start talking about the beautiful scenery and trees of West Virginia and the history of the state long before there were automobiles. I bought the book to learn about the Turnpike's conception and construction. I learned a few things, but overall found it to be very disappointing.
