Aptly named because of its hilly terrain and abundance of trees, the area now known as Forest Hills was a dusty coal mining community in the late 1800s. Centered between two major roads, the Lincoln Highway (Ardmore Boulevard/U.S. Route 30) and the Greensburg Pike, Forest Hills was incorporated in 1919 in order to gain better representation for tax money. Technology put the town on the map with the first commercial licensed radio station broadcast in 1920 and the Westinghouse Atom Smasher, built in 1937. As the borough grew with new houses, schools, and parks, so did traditions such as the Fourth of July celebration at Forest Hills Park and the Bryn Mawr Corn Roast. Founded in 1902, the history of Ingram borough goes back to 1752, when the land was part of Chartiers Township. A grand jury granted a petition to incorporate Ingram as a borough in 1902, and it was named after Thomas Ingram who owned much of the land. The new borough was promoted as a peaceful community located away from the smoke and noise of Pittsburgh's heavy industry. Efficient transportation came to the area in 1865 when the Pittsburgh and Steubenville Railroad completed a line west of Pittsburgh known as the Panhandle. At its peak, a total of 98 trains operated along this route each day. With the coming of electric trolley cars and the formation of Pittsburgh Railways Company, Ingram had two reliable modes of travel.
Through vintage photographs, Ingram showcases how this dedicated and friendly community has forged into the 21st century while remaining committed to its many fond traditions.

Sayre dates to 1783, when a gristmill was built along Shepard Creek. Greater Sayre began around 1870 at a railroad junction near the Susquehanna River. Activity at that junction led to the community eventually named Sayre. Sayre experienced phenomenal growth with the expansion of the Lehigh Valley Railroad operations. Its reputation as a railroad town began to fade after World War II, ending with the demise of the railroad by the 1970s. In its place, Guthrie Healthcare now provides the strongest influence on the town. Today the hospital's position in Sayre is as important as the railroad was in its heyday, both serving as the keystones of a town that thousands call home.
