A Michael Gordon

This review is new information for the author. I am an amateur historian specializing in the settlement of the Nortwest Territory. I enjoyed Mr. Wedges book, but want to comment on (likely) the least consequencial of the forts, that on page 72, Grosse Ile. I grew up on Grosse Ile and have studied her History exhaustively. The author says there is no evidence of the Macomb brothers having bought the Islands. There is. On July 6, 1776 a document was executed, likely at Detroit which gave title to the Macomb brothers signed by a number of Native Americans. One signature stands out, as the signer used his native signature, an eagle just 2 days after the Declaration of Independence! The document is on record as housed in the Detroit Historical Museum records. For more Grosse Ile information contact [****].
