Disappointed. I was hoping to get a glimpse of the Rensselaer I grew up in. We lived on Riverside Ave next to Fort Crailo from 1952 until after I left for college in 1970. This book seems to focus on late 1800's thru to the 1920's - with very few references and photos from the Rensselaer I knew - like the Woolworths on Broadway, or the fourth of July parades, or GAF where my father worked, or the beautiful park across the street from Fort Crailo where you could sit on the stone wall and watch the Hudson River which sadly is gone now. My yearbooks from Van Rensselaer HS have more current history than this book gives, Having grown up here, it was difficult to recognize my hometown. Sadly there is much more to tell about the little city of Rensselaer than this books holds.
