Couldn't put this book down. The highway along the Oregon coast was broken by many inlets and river crossing that required ferries to cross. This well illustrated book describes the building of six bridges in the mid 1930s to alleviate the need for ferries. Pictures of all stages of building with clear descriptions of the varieties of bridge - cantilever, deck arch, bascule drawbridge, tied arch, swing drawbridge.
